Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Materials & Processes Engineer to identify materials and processes to increase manufacturability of liquid rocket engine hardware, develop and qualify them for production, and ensure safety and repeatability in spaceflight programs.

Responsibilities include evaluating metallic materials, collaborating with design and manufacturing teams, ensuring process controls, acting as M&P signatory for engine drawings, and generating documentation while monitoring emerging

Qualifications

• B.S. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years experience in Materials & Process Engineering in aerospace.
• Experience with Ni-, Cu-, Al-, Ti-based aerospace alloys.
• Hands-on experience with high-temperature materials for spacecraft/engine engines.
• Proven experience developing and executing test plans for materials.
• Knowledge of metal processing: forgings, castings, extrusions, hydroforming.
• Knowledge of environmentally-assisted degradation and testing methods.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and select metallic materials for liquid rocket engines.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing to integrate material requirements.
• Ensure process controls for repeatable manufacturing.
• Act as M&P signatory for engine drawings.
• Perform development and qualification testing for materials under engine/environmental conditions.
• Generate documentation for material and process specifications.
• Provide technical support and disposition of nonconformances.
• Stay informed on emerging technologies and industry trends related to liquid rocket engine materials.
