Job summary

RTX is seeking a proactive co-op student in industrial or mechanical engineering to join our Manchester, IA team. You will collaborate with Industrial Engineers and floor staff, focusing on product flow, safety, and quality using modern manufacturing techniques.

You will develop fixtures, program laser machines and 3D printers, and help identify root causes of defects while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM major through the completion of the co-op session.
• Completed at least 60 credit hours prior to the start of the internship/co-op session.
• Knowledge of SolidWorks, VBA, or 3D modeling is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with Industrial Engineers, production floor operators, and manufacturing support staff to resolve issues related to product flow, quality, ergonomics, and safety using state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques.
• Develop or improve designs for fixtures or tooling to aid in manufacturing processes, including building, verifying, and implementing those fixtures using laser machines, 3D printers, and other manufacturing equipment.
• Identify root causes of manufacturing defects and process inefficiencies, and implement effective corrective actions.
• Program and operate manufacturing equipment such as laser machines and 3D printers to support fixture development.
• Assist in the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
