Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer - Combustions in Huntsville, AL to design and implement efficient manufacturing systems for propulsion components. You will translate engineering requirements into robust processes and collaborate with design, quality, and supply-chain teams to accelerate production.

The role requires a B.S. in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering and 3+ years in manufacturing engineering, with GD&T knowledge and BOM experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• 3+ years in a manufacturing engineering role (Level 2: 3+ years, Level 3: 5+ years, Sr: 8+ years).
• 1+ years of experience creating English work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT) for spaceflight vehicles.
• Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with design engineering, quality, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate space production.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.
• Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (machining, welding, brazing, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly).
• Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances; implement corrective actions to improve reliability.
• Ensure work aligns with AS9100 / ISO 9001 quality standards; participate in FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new lines.
• Apply AI technologies alongside traditional manufacturing engineering tools to optimize processes and improve first-pass quality.
