Job summary

Lanteris Space Systems in San Jose, CA seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to join our aerospace metal machine shop. You will model parts with PTC Creo, develop robust manufacturing processes for CNC milling, turning, and multi-axis work, and drive improvements in cycle time, quality, and cost.

The role requires hands-on shop floor work, aerospace drawing interpretation, and DFmeasurement of GD&T. You will support FAI, nonconformance investigations, and provide manufacturability feedback to customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
• 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a machine shop, aerospace or defense preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of CNC machining processes.
• Solid understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, and precision inspection methods (CMM, calipers, micrometers, gauges).
• Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities in a regulated, high-precision environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed process plans, routings, and operation sheets for new and existing part numbers.
• Define setups, work-holding, datum schemes, and inspection points to ensure repeatable, first-article-ready production.
• Support First Article Inspection (AS9102) packages.
• Participate in nonconformance investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Provide real-time technical support to machinists, programmers, and inspectors to resolve production issues.
• Support quoting and estimating with manufacturability feedback, process time estimates, and tooling cost projections.
• Provide design for manufacturability (DFM) feedback to customers when appropriate.
