Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to provide direction on the integration of components for New Glenn. You will develop manufacturing instructions, manage quality and build sequences, and review engineering drawings for production readiness.

Role requires tooling design capability, MBOM management, and proactive problem-solving to improve manufacturability. Strong communication and collaboration across teams are essential to support safe, repeatable spaceflight.

Qualifications

  • BS or equivalent in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Aerospace Engineering.
  • 3+ years direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing including solid understanding of GD&T.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E & CATIA preferred)
  • Ability to manage a manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM), author work instructions, and disposition non-conforming material on the production floor
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teams across large geographic distances
  • Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to develop processes to industry quality systems such as AS9100.

Responsibilities

  • Develop manufacturing work instructions to clearly define manufacturing processes for fabrication, inspection, trimming, assembly, and integration.
  • Closely manage quality, build sequence, and schedule of hardware throughout the entire manufacturing process.
  • Perform engineering drawing review and provide final approval for manufacturing.
  • Design and model simple tooling like drill jigs and create statement of work for complex tooling.
  • Define and support repair and rework activities.
  • Perform root cause analyses when non-conformances and escapes are identified and deploy corrective actions.
  • Craft accurate material handling and packaging to protect hardware.
  • Manage hardware configuration and maintain pedigree.
  • Prioritize hardware procurement and fabrication and communicate these priorities to the team.
  • Extreme customer focus combined with strong verbal and written communication.
