Job summary

Young & Franklin Tactair is seeking a Mechanical Engineering student to join a 120,000 square foot manufacturing environment. You will contribute to R&D, design engineering, assembly and test, and a large machining operation for aerospace and power generation components.

The role offers an hourly rate of $26 and exposure to CAD/FEA, GD&T, and production optimization within a high-mix, low-volume setting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with strong academics.
• Self-motivated with a desire to learn and achieve results.
• Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to set goals and meet commitments.
• Working knowledge of MS Office; familiarity with CAD/FEA tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Modify and create 2D/3D CAD models and drawings for new and existing designs.
• Analyze and model product designs to ensure performance and durability using FEA and CFD tools.
• Apply GD&T principles to ensure design manufacturability and accuracy.
• Analyze raw test data and write detailed reports on findings and recommendations.
• Research specifications and evaluate design proposals through calculations and simulations.
• Assist in the design of assembly and test tooling, fixtures, and holders.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to develop standardized work instructions and methods.
• Develop and track productivity and efficiency metrics for the production floor.
• Support production optimization initiatives, including line balancing and time/motion studies.
• Implement 5S, TPM, and visual management programs to improve production floor operations.
• Other duties as assigned.
