Job summary

youngfranklintactair in Liverpool, NY invites Mechanical/Aerospace engineering students to join our internship program. You will contribute to CAD modeling, design analysis, and process improvements in our R&D lab as part of the Manufacturing Engineering & Design Engineering teams.

You’ll report to a Mechanical Engineer and gain exposure to CNC machines, testing, and data-driven optimization while developing practical skills for real-world products.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering at an accredited university.
• Strong communication and desire to learn in a hands-on environment.
• Working knowledge of MS Office; prior CAD/FEA experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Modify and create 2D/3D CAD models and drawings for new and existing designs.
• Analyze and model product designs to ensure performance and durability using FEA/CFD tools.
• Apply GD&T to ensure design manufacturability and accuracy.
• Analyze raw test data and write reports with findings and recommendations.
• Research specs and evaluate design proposals via calculations and simulations.
• Assist in designing assembly/test tooling, fixtures, and holders.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to develop standardized work instructions.
• Develop productivity and efficiency metrics for the production floor.
• Support production optimization, including line balancing and time/motion studies.
• Implement 5S, TPM, and visual management programs in operations.
