Job summary

Leidos is seeking an Aerospace M&S Engineer Intern to join our Flight Systems Department in Huntsville, AL next summer. This internship targets aerospace students to work on simulations, analyses, and flight dynamics within the Missiles & Aviation Division.

You will collaborate with full-time engineers on a technical project involving modeling and simulation of an aerospace vehicle, with exposure to GNC concepts, MATLAB/Simulink, and C/C++ coding. U.S.

Qualifications

• This internship targets aerospace engineering students with fundamentals in flight dynamics and simulation.
• Solid programming foundation in MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, or Python.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for DoD security clearance.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or graduate degree in ABET-accredited program.
• GPA 3.0 or higher and willing to work on-site in Huntsville, AL.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining simulations to evaluate performance and flight dynamics of an aerospace flight vehicle.
• Create 6-DOF, 3-DOF, and HWIL simulations with aerodynamic and propulsion models and GNC algorithms.
• Analyze vehicle dynamics, perform design trade-studies, and support mission planning and flight tests.
• Provide assessments to inform design decisions and DoD policy makers.
• Develop or use scripts, GUIs, or tools to support analysis and programmatic efforts.
