Job summary

CMI Group is seeking a Grind Machinist for the Night Shift in Phoenix, AZ. The role involves operating manual and CNC grinders to produce parts per blueprints and engineering specs in a defense and aerospace machine shop.

Candidates should have 5+ years of ID/OD grinding experience or be willing to train. High school diploma or GED required; experience with Heald, Okuma, and Kellenberger grinders a plus. Expect to work 40+ hours weekly with a night-shift differential.

Qualifications

• High School or GED
• CNC experience preferred but not required
• 5+ years ID/OD grinding experience preferred, but will train lathe or mill machinist looking to grow

Responsibilities

• Grinds and blends steel to prepare for paint or powder.
• Selects, mounts, attaches and calibrates a variety of attachments to grind angles, contours, lines, spheres, etc.
• Complete all required paperwork properly – inspection reports, spc, job travelers, etc.
• Work in tolerances of .0002-.0005
• Able to work independently and stay on task – operate 2 machines regularly
• Ability to problem solve and communicate process improvement suggestions with management
