Job summary

PPG in Grand Prairie, TX is seeking an experienced CNC milling operator for 2nd shift (1:30 PM–10:00 PM). Set up, program, and run large-format gantry/portal mills, interpreting drawings and CAM outputs to produce aerospace components.

You will select tools, manage offsets, perform first article and in-process inspections with calipers, micrometers, and a CMM, and mentor junior operators while maintaining safety and production logs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; technical certificate preferred.
• 5+ years of hands-on CNC milling in production environments.
• Experience with large-format/gantry CNC milling and 5-axis workflows.
• Strong CNC control systems knowledge and programming.
• GD&T and precision metrology expertise.
• Familiarity with Zimmermann platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor CNC milling centers (gantry/portal).
• Interpret drawings and CAM outputs to define machining strategy.
• Create and refine CNC programs (G/M-code) for multi-axis moves.
• Manage tools, offsets, and perform first article inspections.
• Use calipers, micrometers, and CMM for feature verification.
• Troubleshoot alarms, wear, and code errors; perform maintenance.
• Maintain production and inspection records.
• Follow safety, health, and environmental policies.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and planning; mentor juniors.
