Job summary

PPG is seeking a 2nd Shift Production Operator in Huntsville, Alabama. As a production operator you will be a crucial part of our operations, ensuring that a quality product is available to our customers when they need them.

Your work will directly affect people's lives! Responsibilities include reading and interpreting part and tool drawings, using micrometers and calipers for dimensional checks, inspecting units after machining, and supporting CNC setup and tooling as needed.

Qualifications

• Willing to work overtime as needed.
• 95% of time standing with some walking.
• Frequent lifting up to 50LBS.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret part and tool drawings with the ability to properly understand these drawings as they apply to parts or tooling machined.
• Use micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, scales, and various gauges for verification of dimensional quality work produced.
• Inspect Units and/or Tooling after machining to ensure compliance with all quality requirements.
• Have a good understanding of five axis machine motion and interpret axial tool movement according to machine code.
• Check for proper machine alignment and perform proofing/first article runs.
• Make accurate setups ensuring Tombstones, fixtures, and/or table are clean and burr-free, checking tools for wear.
• Obtain knowledge of machine code and use MDI to manipulate the machine tool during set-up.
• Proof programs and support CNC Programmers and/or Maintenance as needed.
• Operate equipment automatically or manually to produce quality parts and support tooling.
• Maintain basic computer skills to locate files and transfer data between server and machine tool.
• Read, interpret and follow Setup Sheets and Tooling Work Instruction Sheets.
