Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Fluid Systems Engineer to develop and test fluid subsystem designs for New Glenn missions. You will create CAD models, analyze fluid systems, and generate test plans for flight hardware as part of a small, high-velocity team.

The role requires a Mechanical or Aerospace B.S. and 2+ years in propulsion/fluid domains, with strong CAD/FEA and fluid modeling experience. U.S. citizenship or eligibility is required.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in an aerospace propulsion or fluid subject area.
  • Experience with 3D CAD programs Creo (Preferred), CATIA V5, SolidWorks, AutoDesk or other industry standard software.
  • Experience with FEA tools to analyze pressurized systems and secondary structures (ANSYS preferred).
  • Experience with REFPROP, SINDA/FLUINT and Thermal Desktop or other fluid modeling software.
  • Experience with analysis/calculations of flow through components or systems.
  • Knowledge of propulsion and fluid system components (i.e. valves, regulators, pressure vessels).
  • U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Design fluid component hardware to meet cost, performance, and schedule constraints with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Design and route fluid subsystems (pressurization, pneumatics, coolant, propellant utilization).
  • Work with fluid components (solenoid valves, pneumatic valves, regulators, vessels, instrumentation).
  • Create CAD models, P&ID, drawings, assemblies and interface control documents.
  • Perform FEA and fluid system modeling and analysis.
  • Create test plans and documentation for development and flight hardware.
  • Support manufacturing and align with customer-driven schedules.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams on materials and processes.
