Job summary

AeroVironment, based in California, seeks an Embedded Software Engineering Intern to design, develop, and test embedded software for unmanned aerial and robotic systems. You will gain hands-on experience writing software for microcontrollers, processors, and hardware used in flight systems, sensors, and payloads.

The internship runs 12 weeks onsite, with relocation/housing reimbursements possible. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in engineering or computer science, with interest in aerospace

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Basic knowledge of embedded systems and microcontrollers.
• Familiarity with C/C++ or Python.
• Understanding of low-level software concepts (memory, interrupts, drivers).
• Exposure to I2C/SPI/UART/CAN.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist in writing and testing embedded software for autopilots, sensors, radios, and onboard components.
• Implement software in C/C++ for real-time and bare-metal systems.
• Support integration of software with hardware and debug with lab tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive development.
• Participate in peer reviews and software documentation.
