Job summary

AV is offering a paid Summer Internship Program in the United States for students pursuing degrees in engineering and computer science. The Embedded Software Engineering Intern will develop and test embedded software for unmanned systems, work on real projects, and gain hands-on experience across the development lifecycle.

The program is 12 weeks long, onsite, with relocation housing stipend possible. Applicants should have a 3.0+ GPA, preferably juniors or above, and exposure to C/C++ coding,

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Basic knowledge of embedded systems and microcontrollers.
• Familiarity with C, C++, or Python.
• Understanding of memory management, interrupts, or device drivers.
• Exposure to I2C, SPI, UART, or CAN protocols.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in writing and testing embedded software for autopilots, sensors, radios and other onboard components.
• Implement software in C/C++ for real-time and bare-metal systems.
• Support integration of embedded software with hardware and debug using lab tools.
• Collaborate with electrical, systems, and mechanical engineers for cohesive development.
• Participate in peer reviews, documentation, and configuration management.
• Contribute to lab and field testing of embedded systems.
• Assist in developing prototypes and proofs-of-concept.
