Job summary

Blue Origin, a leader in space exploration, is seeking an entry-level CAD Drafter II to support ground systems hardware across multiple disciplines. You will create and maintain 3D models and 2D drawings using Creo Parametric and Windchill under senior guidance, contributing to safety and quality across launch-related facilities.

You will engage in onboarding, tool training, and rotational projects while developing skills in Model-Based Definition and drafting standards.

Qualifications

• 2-year AS degree in CAD, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting & Design Technology or equivalent
• Foundational GD&T experience
• Knowledge of aerospace, automotive, marine or related structures and systems
• 3D parametric modeling experience
• Familiarity with drafting standards (ASME Y14 series)
• Ability to read and interpret processes and specs
• Willingness to learn new tools and technologies
• Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain detail part and assembly models and drawings using Creo Parametric 12 and Windchill PLM under guidance from senior designers
• Support development of Model-Based Definition datasets with 3D annotations and PMI
• Assist with mechanical/structural layouts including frames, platforms, and machine assemblies
• Support piping/tubing design and enclosure layouts using Creo tooling
• Contribute to electrical enclosure assemblies and cable routing as CAD tools evolve
• Prepare and modify designs and identify discrepancies
• Ensure drawings meet specifications and drafting standards
• Support Windchill product structure and change workflows
• Leverage AI-assisted design tools to improve productivity and quality
• Follow cost, schedule, and performance balance in design methods
• Participate in drawing checks during release reviews under supervision
