Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle is hiring an Engineering Designer to join the MK1 Lunar Lander team within Lunar Permanence. You will prepare design layouts, create detail/assembly drawings, release data using CAD/PLM tools, and review designs for adherence to specs and standards.

You will support cross-functional teams on mechanical layout, tubes, and materials selection to deliver world-class spacecraft components.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Computer Aided Drafting & Design.
  • 2+ years of experience in aerospace development or similar industry.
  • Proficiency in drawing generation and release processes using Creo Parametric and Windchill.
  • Proficiency in standard fits, tolerance stacks, and GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5).
  • Experience managing large CAD assemblies, BOMs, ICMs, and skeletons.
  • Experience in designing spacecraft primary structure, secondary structure, and component mounting hardware.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional team responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and developing the design to produce world-class engineered products.
  • Excellent attention to detail and task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing design layouts, creating detail part and assembly drawings/MBDs, and releasing data sets using CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools.
  • Reviewing engineering drawing and designs to ensure alignment to established specifications and standards.
  • Supporting engineering teams in the development with mechanical layout and detail design and drawing for fluids detail parts and assemblies including tube routing.
  • Applying relevant company (design, drafting, parts) techniques to plan, layout, and maintain data depicting engineering designs (detail, assembly and installation drawings or datasets).
  • Implementing engineering and manufacturing standard methodologies to achieve a balanced approach to cost, schedule and performance requirements.
