Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced engineer to translate engineering intent into additively manufactured metallic flight hardware. You will lead the full AM process from print to post-processing, guide design for additive manufacturing, and coordinate with engineering to drive improvements.

This role requires on-site support in Kent, WA and occasional after-hours availability. Requirements include a 4-year degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, 2+ years in aerospace, and hands-on LPB

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or higher in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • 2+ years in aerospace or similar industries
  • Exposure to and understanding of laser powder bed fusion printing or similar

Responsibilities

  • Own the offshift Engineering support of Additively Manufactured (AM) components from printing to post-processing production using Laser Powder Bed (LPB) printing.
  • Demonstrate machine specific workflows and software packages to improve additive designs.
  • Participate in company process definition, documentation, and improvement teams for manufacturing processes, business processes, production planning, lessons learned, and other standards/processes as needed.
  • Develop manufacturing work instructions to clearly define the full process from print to delivery.
  • Closely manage cost, quality, build sequence, and schedule of hardware throughout the entire manufacturing process.
  • Perform root cause analyses when non-conformances and escapes are identified and deploy corrective actions.
  • Ability to support operations onsite in Kent, Washington and during off hours (if required) via phone or online tools
