Job summary

UES, Inc. is seeking a CMT Soils Laboratory Technician II to lead comprehensive testing of soils, concrete, and aggregates in our Texas lab. You will ensure ASTM, AASHTO, and project spec compliance while reviewing data for accuracy.

The candidate should have 0–3 years in materials testing, strong safety discipline, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical coursework preferred.
• 0–3 years in construction materials testing or geotechnical lab work desired.
• Commitment to safety and PPE protocols; OSHA compliance.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret technical procedures and reports.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and field data collection tools.
• Ability to lift 35–75 lbs and travel to sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory testing on soil, concrete, and related materials per ASTM/AASHTO standards.
• Document and report test results with accurate records and traceability.
• Prepare samples, handle materials, and maintain lab equipment.
• Operate lab instruments and comply with safety protocols.
• Coordinate with engineers, technicians, and field staff; provide updates on findings.
• Assist with testing plan execution and data review as needed.
