Job summary

Southern Oregon ESD is seeking dedicated Advanced Interpreters to join our team serving Pre-K–12 students with diverse communication modalities. Interpreters prepare for classes, pursue professional goals, and assess student language skills while supporting cohesive teamwork among educational staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Score of 4.0 or above on the EIPA Performance Assessment or RID NIC/CI/CT Certification and one of the following criteria.
• Bachelor's or Associate's Degree from an Interpreter Education Program or related field.
• Three years successful experience as an Interpreter in an educational setting (K-12 preferred).

Responsibilities

• Interpret/transliterate information accurately for students at their language level.
• Instruct students in correct use of an interpreter.
• Serve as liaison between PDHH staff and mainstream staff with feedback on student progress.
• Maintain confidentiality per district rules and procedures.
• Develop and implement ongoing professional growth and mentoring for staff.
• Maintain interpreter logs and participate in IEP meetings and conferences.
