Job summary

Southern Oregon Education Service District (SOESD) is seeking an Educational Assistant with Basic Sign Language abilities to join our team. You will work with deaf or hard-of-hearing students across Pre-K–12th grade, supported by trained interpreters, to help develop communication skills and educational outcomes.

The role emphasizes professionalism, teamwork, and growth within an inclusive educational environment, with responsibilities ranging from instructional support to preparing materials

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Complete at least two sign language classes of increasing difficulty or equivalent experience with deaf individuals.

Responsibilities

• Assist in evaluating student performance levels.
• Assist in instruction of deaf and hard of hearing students individually or in groups.
• Provide tutorial support for deaf and hard of hearing students as assigned by the teacher.
• Provide basic interpretive support for sign language users.
• Assist in applying student management procedures including physical care.
• Prepare instructional materials for deaf and hard of hearing students.
• Perform organizational and clerical tasks as assigned.
• Communicate clearly and work within established policies and procedures.
