Job summary

Lane Education Service District in Eugene, Oregon is seeking a Sign Language Interpreter to join the educational team alongside Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH). The interpreter addresses communication accessibility and provides re-teaching and classroom support across multiple school contexts.

Requirements include an Associate's Degree in Interpreter Education (Bachelor's preferred), fluent ASL and English, and strong collaboration skills.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in an Interpreter Education Program; bachelor's preferred.
  • Fluent in ASL, Contact Variety and English as demonstrated by qualifications.
  • Strong oral and written communication in English and Sign Language.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate interpretation suitable for students’ age, register and language skills.
  • Interpret in classrooms, health and counseling centers, assemblies and field trips.
  • Prepare for interpretation needs by coordinating with teachers on content and vocab.
  • Support DHH students and collaborate with teachers to foster accessibility.
  • Maintain data and communicate progress to IEP teams.
