Job summary

Serco Inc. is seeking an Advanced Marine Welder to support U.S. Navy ships in Chesapeake, VA. You will fabricate, assemble electromechanical and electronic assemblies, and perform safety-focused welding on shipboard systems and installations.

You will review blueprints, pass DoD clearance, wear PPE, and travel up to 10%. The role requires at least 5 years shipboard welding experience and the ability to obtain the required Serco welding qualifications.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain/maintain DoD Secret security clearance.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Minimum 5 years shipboard welding experience.
• Must pass background check and drug screening.
• Complete specified Serco welding procedures within 30 days.
• Own tools and pass pre-certification weld test.
• Respirator qualification and PPE compliance.
• Familiar with NAVSEA repair, fabrication and installation concepts.

Responsibilities

• Assemble metal parts or repair components using heavy machinery and heat.
• Review blueprints to guide fabrication.
• Cut metal to required shapes.
• Smooth metal surfaces and remove creases.
• Climb shipyard stairs, work kneeling for cable runs, lift up to 50 lb with up to 40 lb carry for most of shift.
• May train personnel on machinery tools and test equipment.
