The position requires a Routing/Scheduling Certification and 5–7 years of routing experience, plus a valid Virginia CDL with school bus endorsements. Strong communication and computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must possess a Routing/Scheduling Certification.
• Five to seven years of school bus routing experience; related driver experience preferred.
• Must be at least 21 and hold a Virginia CDL with school bus endorsement(s).
• Ability to operate a PC and MS Office; knowledge of routing algorithms is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Uses routing software to develop and maintain a computerized database of school bus routing and scheduling information.
• Reviews and revises regular and special education routes and schedules for efficiency.
• Provides routing lists, directions, and rosters for schools, drivers, managers, and the public as required.
• Assists Transportation leadership by evaluating routing options under constraints (fleet, bell times, safety, budget).
• Performs daily system and database maintenance and updates maps for new streets.
