Job summary

Carpenter Technology Corporation seeks a Technician II – Quality Chemical Lab to perform preparation and analysis of steel, alloy, and slag specimens using optical emission spectrometers and related instruments.

The role requires 1–2 years in a lab setting, high school diploma (associate degree preferred), and the ability to work under moderate supervision in a fast-paced facility in Tanner, AL. Strong attention to safety and data accuracy is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• One to two years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Mechanical skills for routine maintenance and instrument upkeep.
• Ability to work under moderate supervision in a production-oriented lab.
• Knowledge of chemical lab testing procedures and equipment.
• Experience with LIMS and instrument software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare test specimens and analyze them using C/S, N/O, and optical emission spectrometers.
• Register test specimens into the electronic laboratory management system.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on test equipment and adjust as needed.
• Inspect test specimens for quality and request replacements when necessary.
• Support special projects while maintaining safe working conditions.
