Job summary

Carpenter Technology Corporation in Tanner, AL is seeking a Technician I for its Quality Chemical Lab. You will prepare specimens, analyze samples using C/S and N/O fusion instruments, and maintain lab equipment under SOP guidance.

Entry-level with training provided; growth opportunities in a high‑quality alloys environment. Requires a high school diploma; an associate degree in Chemistry or related science is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required; an Associate Degree in Chemistry or two years in a physical science curriculum is preferred.
• Entry level position: with training, individuals are expected to fully qualify for this position within six months.

Responsibilities

• Based on basic understanding of machinery, performs standard tasks related to preparation of steel, alloy, and slag specimens and analysis.
• Analyses consist of few steps and are completed under direction.
• Inspect test specimens for acceptable quality criteria, reject poor samples, request replacements as needed.
• Prepare test specimens using abrasive saws, disk/belt sanders, grinder, and drill presses.
• Perform routine maintenance checks on preparation machinery and equipment.
