Job summary

Carpenter Technology Corporation in Tanner, AL seeks a Technician I – Quality Chemical Lab to prepare steel and alloy specimens, analyze them using C/S and N/O fusion instruments, and maintain laboratory equipment. You will register specimens in the LIMS, inspect samples, and support routine preventative maintenance under direction.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma (Associate degree preferred) and are eager to learn, operate lab hardware safely, and work in a production-oriented

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate degree or further chemistry knowledge preferred.
• Associate degree in Chemistry or two years in a physical science curriculum preferred.
• Candidate should be able to learn and qualify within six months.

Responsibilities

• Prepare test specimens for analysis using equipment (abrasive saws, grinders, drills).
• Analyze furnace and product specimens with C/S and N/O fusion instruments under direction.
• Register specimens into LIMS and maintain specimen identification.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on sample preparation machinery.
• Inspect test specimens for quality and request replacements as needed.
• Handle data review and apply corrections from certified references.
