Job summary

Mount Carmel, a member of Trinity Health, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner specialized in Medical Oncology to manage care for hematology/oncology patients in inpatient and outpatient settings. The APRN will round on chemo patients and cover inpatient consults, with a standard day shift from 8:00 to 4:30, Monday through Friday, in Ohio.

Requirements include a Master’s degree in Nursing or related field, current Ohio RN license with APN designation, applicable certifications

Qualifications

• Masters required in Science, Nursing or Specialty field. Graduate of an Advanced Practitioner program.
• Current Ohio RN license; Advanced Practice Nurse in designated specialty; ANCC preferred; Physician Assistant considered; DEA license or ability to obtain.
• Minimum 2-3 years recent APP oncology experience; effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage care of hematology and oncology patients in inpatient and clinic settings.
• See inpatient consults and rounds for patients receiving chemotherapy in the outpatient infusion center.
• Primary shift is Day, Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. with occasional coverage of other shifts.

About the job: The APRN - NP Specialty provides acute healthcare services for specialty health conditions in specific populations in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. This APRN will manage the care of hematology and oncology patients. They will see both inpatient consults as well as patients in clinic and round on patients receiving chemo in the outpatient infusion center. The primary shift will be Day, Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with occasional need to cover other shifts.

What you need:

Education:

Masters required in Science, Nursing or Specialty field. Graduate of an Advanced Practitioner program

Licensure / Certification:

Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio Certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse in designated specialty required. American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) is preferred Physician Assistant will be considered as well BLS provider certification required ACLS, NRP, EFM and PALs required for some departments Holds a DEA license for controlled substances or ability to obtain as required All qualifications above are subject to grandfathering by the Ohio Board of Nursing.

Experience:

Minimum of 2-3 years recent and relevant APP experience in oncology Effective Communication Skills
