Job summary

University Health Associates in Martinsburg, WV seeks an Advanced Practice Professional (APP) Lead for the Heart and Vascular Institute, Cardiothoracic Surgery. You will coordinate clinical aspects, education, and advancement of the APP scope of practice.

Role requires NP/PA credentials with WV/VA licensure, BLS, potential ALS training, and CT surgery experience. Excellent leadership and communication are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a CCNE accredited nursing program with a master's degree in nursing.
• National Certification by one of the APRN Certification Centers.
• Licensure or eligibility for licensure as an RN and APRN in West Virginia.
• American Heart Association BLS Certification required with ALS training as needed.
• At least three years’ experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
• ACNPs or FNPs preferred.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree as Physician Assistant; ARC-PA PA program; NCCPA certification; WV licensure eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Manages inpatient APP personnel to ensure credentialed, clinically competent staff. Navigates privileging and regional directives to comply with policies.
• Promotes teamwork, coaching, performance appraisals, and regular attendance at meetings within the division.
• Develops and implements ongoing educational programs for staff (orientation, continuing education, new equipment training).
• Ensures adequate APP coverage in inpatient settings to meet patient needs.
• Maintains effective communication with Medical Staff, patients, staff and other departments for issue resolution.
• Collaborates with physicians and department leadership to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and care delivery.
