Job summary

Medtronic is seeking a Necropsy Technician IV (Parapathologist) to support preclinical pathology, tissue management, and regulatory-compliant lab operations on site. The role emphasizes advanced necropsy skills, meticulous record-keeping, and collaboration with pathologists and study teams.

The position requires extensive experience in necropsy and pathology, with a strong focus on quality, biosafety, and animal welfare.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 8+ years in necropsy, pathology, laboratory, biomedical research, or related technical laboratory functions.
• Experience performing necropsy, gross pathology, tissue collection, specimen processing, and biological specimen management.
• Experience maintaining technical documentation, laboratory records, and data in regulated laboratory environments.
• Experience operating and troubleshooting laboratory equipment and following established laboratory procedures.
• Experience working within quality, regulatory, safety, biosafety, and animal welfare requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform necropsy, gross pathology, tissue collection, specimen processing, and related pathology procedures in accordance with study protocols and established procedures.
• Examine, dissect, describe, photograph, measure, trim, and prepare tissue specimens for histopathologic evaluation and other laboratory analyses.
• Collect, label, process, archive, and track biological specimens while maintaining specimen integrity, chain of custody, and traceability.
• Document observations, findings, procedures, and technical data in compliance with quality systems, regulatory requirements, and departmental standards.
• Draft, revise, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, forms, training materials, and technical documentation.
• Operate, maintain, inspect, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to support efficient and compliant laboratory operations.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and onboarding support to less experienced personnel and assist with workflow coordination.
• Collaborate with pathologists, researchers, study directors, and laboratory staff to support study execution, quality initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
