Job Summary

The AIP Technician is responsible for performing accurate, high-quality necropsy/histology study work for rodent and non-rodent safety studies in compliance with the study protocol, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards, animal welfare regulations, and departmental policies/procedures. The pathology data collected and processed on these studies by the Pathology Technician enable candidate selection, first-in-human studies, 13-week studies, and early research and target safety and investigative work.

  • Location: Groton, Connecticut
  • Job Type: Contract
  • Salary: $25.30 - 30.77 per hour
  • Work Hours: 9 to 5
  • Education: Associate degree
Responsibilities
  1. Perform all regulatory responsibilities in compliance with applicable standards.
  2. Read, understand, and follow the study protocol and its connection to the Pristima protocol.
  3. Conduct all aspects of necropsy/histology for safety studies, including setup, necropsy, tissue processing, slide preparation, staining, data collection, quality control, and archiving.
  4. Ensure availability of supplies and equipment; generate necessary forms and labels.
  5. Review necropsy/histology data for accuracy, document errors, and notify relevant personnel.
  6. Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and technical issues.
  7. Communicate with management and study personnel to ensure compliance, animal welfare, and protocol adjustments as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum
  • ≥ 4 years applicable histology experience; or Associates degree with HT (ASCP) and 2 years experience; or B.S. with 1 year experience.
Preferred
  • > 7 years histology experience, or Associates degree with >3 years relevant experience, HT (ASCP) certification preferred.
  • B.S. with > 1 year relevant experience, HT certification preferred.
Technical Skills
  • Training in histology/necropsy, laboratory techniques for in vivo studies in multiple species in a GLP environment.
  • Experience with electronic data capture and data management systems.
  • Effective team collaboration, accurate data recording, and professional communication skills.
