Job Summary:
The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer will drive the design and procurement of equipment and tools, ensuring prototype equipment is maintained, tooling is functional and available for SOP, process development, and system assistance. The position also involves reviews, testing, and analysis to validate product designs meet DFM standards and to create processes for DFA. Support for production startup and debugging will be based in Springboro, Ohio.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying products and manufacturing methods.
- Design and conduct research to evaluate manufacturing processes, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; gather observations from operators.
- Research, design, modify, and test manufacturing methods and equipment; collaborate with equipment vendors.
- Enhance manufacturing efficiency by analyzing workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Participate in testing methods to ensure product and process quality; test finished products and process capabilities; confirm manufacturing processes.
- Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
- Assist with equipment and tool design.
- Lead the evaluation of new product concepts (DFA), create manufacturing plans, and estimate production costs.
- Organize and manage manufacturing workflows and documentation such as DFA’s, PFPFMEAs, and WI’s.
- Lead prototype and start-of-production activities to meet quality and business objectives.
- Evaluate manufacturing processes based on quality criteria like efficiency and speed.
- Support prototype operators, technicians, designers, and engineers in process creation and execution for product launches.
- Recommend and implement improvements to document company best practices.
- Develop junior engineers and staff to enhance their skills.
- Support the company's vision, values, goals, and business plans.
- Perform other duties as assigned and ensure predictable, reliable attendance.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, mechanical, electrical engineering, or equivalent experience.
- At least five (5) years of process engineering experience in manufacturing.
- Knowledge of PLCs (Allen Bradley), HMIs, relays, contractors, servos, steppers, circuits, barcode systems, databases, vision systems.
- Experience with quality management systems.
- Strong technical and communication skills.
- Experience with electrical cabinet layout and machine controls.
- Team-oriented mindset.
- Knowledge of TS 16949 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Experience with fixturing design for robotic, CNC, and welding applications.
- Knowledge of assembly controls, sensors, vision systems, and poke yokes.
- Understanding of robotic and automated assembly processes versus manual methods.
- Knowledge of pneumatic assemblies, valves, and air controls.
- Proficiency in CAD, especially SolidWorks, with the ability to conceptualize and convey ideas into functional designs.
- Experience with multi-content assembly processes, understanding the full manufacturing stream from start to finish.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
- Prolonged sitting and computer work.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and reach overhead or below knee level.

- Must pass a human performance evaluation/physical assessment.
