Job Summary:
The Senior Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (SAME) is responsible for the design and procurement of equipment, as well as defining the processes needed to produce high and low voltage products. The SAME works closely with Prototype and Design teams to troubleshoot issues and provide engineering support to ensure a smooth transition from concept to production.
Responsibilities:
- Develop processes for new parts and equipment by collaborating with the prototype manufacturing team to support new component and system launches.
- Work with production teams to troubleshoot issues with product components and assemblies.
- Evaluate supplier information, specifications, and validation data to select appropriate suppliers.
- Contribute to Designing for Assembly (DFA) & Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
- Facilitate Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
- Lead multi-million-dollar projects and prepare Statements of Requirements (SOR) for equipment integrators.
- Support prototype system builds, ensuring timely equipment delivery and issue resolution.
- Improve manufacturing efficiency through workflow, space, and equipment layout planning.
- Participate in testing methods to ensure product and process quality, and confirm manufacturing processes.
- Compile reports by analyzing and summarizing data and trends.
- Contribute to mechanical system DFMEAs/PFMEAs.
- Expand professional knowledge through seminars, publications, and networking.
- Complete projects on time to contribute to team growth.
- Design and procure parts, leading projects from start to finish.
- Mentor junior engineers and staff to enhance their skills.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering or equivalent.
- At least seven (7) years of experience in automotive or similar product design and development.
- Familiarity with PLCs (Allen Bradley), HMIs, relays, contractors, servos, steppers, low/high voltage circuits, torque drivers, barcode systems, vision systems.
- Experience with TS 16949 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Experience in Fixturing Design – Robotic, CNC, Weld.
- Experience working with assembly controls such as sensors, vision, and mechanical poke yokes.
- Knowledge of robotic/automated vs manual assembly processes.
- Knowledge of pneumatic assemblies, valve banks, and air controls.
- Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks), with strong concept development and communication skills.
- Experience in multi-content assembly processes, understanding the entire manufacturing stream.
- Adept at troubleshooting and data analysis.
- Effective communication skills for technical data presentation and supplier interaction.
- Experience handling high voltage lithium-ion battery systems.
- Knowledge of automotive and industry standards.
- Familiar with product design, reading equipment, and drawings.
- Self-motivated problem solver with attention to detail.
