Job Summary:

The Senior Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (SAME) is responsible for the design and procurement of equipment, as well as defining the processes needed to produce both high and low voltage products. The SAME is expected to work closely with Prototype and Design teams to troubleshoot issues and provide engineering support to ensure a smooth transition from concept to production.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the process development of new parts and equipment by working closely with the prototype manufacturing team to support new components and systems launches.
  • Work closely with production manufacturing teams to troubleshoot any issues that arise with product components and assemblies.
  • Evaluate supplier information, specifications, and validation data to ensure the selection of proper suppliers.
  • Contribute to Designing for Assembly (DFA) & Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
  • Facilitate Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT).
  • Lead multi-million-dollar projects and write Statements of Requirements (SOR) for equipment integrators.
  • Support prototype system builds to ensure timely equipment delivery and issue resolution.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency through workflow, space, and equipment layout planning.
  • Participate in testing methods, finished product testing, and process capability assessments to ensure quality.
  • Prepare reports by analyzing and summarizing data and trends.
  • Contribute to mechanical system DFMEAs/PFMEAs.
  • Expand professional knowledge through seminars, publications, and networking.
  • Complete projects timely to contribute to team growth.
  • Design and procure parts, leading projects and teams from start to finish.
  • Mentor junior engineers to enhance their skills.
Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least seven (7) years of experience in automotive or similar product design and development.
  • Familiarity with PLCs (preferably Allen Bradley), HMIs, relays, contractors, servos, steppers, low and high voltage circuits, barcode systems, vision systems.
  • Experience with TS 16949 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Experience with Fixturing Design (Robotic, CNC, Weld).
  • Knowledge of assembly controls, sensors, vision, mechanical poke yokes.
  • Understanding of robotic/automated versus manual assembly processes.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic assemblies, valve banks, air controls.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, preferably SolidWorks, with strong concept development skills.
  • Experience with multi-content assembly processes from start to finish.
  • Strong troubleshooting, data processing, and statistical analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical presentations and collaboration with suppliers.
  • Experience handling high-voltage lithium-ion battery systems.
  • Knowledge of automotive industry standards and product design documentation.
  • Self-motivated with attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Adherence to safety standards and protocols.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
  • Sitting at a desk, working on a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Operating office equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and reach overhead or below knee level.

  • Pass a human performance evaluation/physical assessment.
