Job summary

AvalonBay Communities is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Newcastle, WA community. The role focuses on diagnosing and repairing systems, completing service requests promptly, and keeping apartments rent-ready while upholding safety standards.

You will contribute to preventative maintenance, assist with painting, and support residents with exceptional service. A valid license and on-call flexibility are required.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of maintenance experience including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance work.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to accommodate an on-call schedule in rotation with the team each month.
• Ability to communicate with residents and associates to provide excellent service.
• Knowledge of PPE and safety procedures; able to read SDS and maintenance policies.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses and repairs problems in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, appliances, carpentry, safety systems, and more.
• Completes service requests and repairs per standards and timelines.
• Ensures vacant apartments are rent-ready in a timely manner; performs turnkey work as needed.
• Conducts apartment preventative maintenance.
• Assists in interior and exterior painting.
• Maintains safety culture and follows all AvalonBay safety policies.
• Performs hot works including brazing, soldering, and welding within standards.
