Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience in maintenance work including HVAC repair, plumbing, electrical and general maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to accommodate an on-call schedule in rotation with the team each month.
• Ability to communicate with associates and residents to provide customer service.
• Ability to read and understand policies and procedures including maintenance-related policies.
• Knowledge of PPE and safe chemical handling.
• Basic understanding of emergency systems and shutoffs.
• Knowledge of paint types and painting tools.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses and repairs problems in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, major appliances and other systems.
• Completes assigned service requests and repairs promptly.
• Ensures vacant apartment homes are rent-ready in a timely manner.
• Performs preventative maintenance.
• Assists in painting interior and exterior surfaces.
• Maintains safety culture by following AvalonBay safety policies.
• Performs hot works such as brazing, soldering and welding within standards.
