Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking anInstrumentation and Controls Technician II to provide advanced level work on pneumatic and electronic control systems for building operations. The role supports energy efficiency, reliability, and occupant comfort across campus facilities.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and system upgrades, with opportunities for training and career development within a large, research-focused university environment.

Qualifications

  • High school or GED required.
  • Five years of journey-level experience with installation, repair, maintenance and operation of pneumatic and DDC instrumentation and control systems.
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots and resolves issues with electronic and pneumatic controls systems and components to maintain HVAC comfort control in university buildings.
  • Leads work teams across multiple maintenance disciplines to resolve complex technical control system problems.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and calibrates electronic and pneumatic controls and sensors for optimal HVAC performance and energy conservation.
  • Renovates and upgrades control systems to improve building comfort and efficiency.
  • Assists other shops and team members in achieving KPI goals and maintains clear communication with supervisors.
