Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Florida seeks a skilled Sonographer to autonomously perform advanced diagnostic ultrasound imaging for outpatient and inpatient settings, including abdominal, vascular, OB/GYN exams, with participation in research and quality assurance.

You will interpret images, tailor exams to patient history, mentor students and staff, and contribute to continuous improvement across shifts and sites.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited Sonography Program or ARDMS registry eligible.
• ARDMS registration in abdomen, OB/GYN and RVT, or registry eligibility.
• Associate degree or higher preferred.
• Certification targets to be achieved within 18 months of Mayo employment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Autonomously performs high quality, advanced diagnostic ultrasound imaging required for tertiary care in outpatient and inpatient settings, including abdominal, vascular, abdominal vasculature, small parts, and ob/gyn exams.
• Assists in complex invasive procedures and intraoperative cases with a team approach.
• Requires high level analytical ability to obtain appropriate images and communicate a preliminary clinical diagnosis to the physician.
• Identifies imaging orders for accuracy and tailors the exam to patient needs.
• Requires knowledge of sterile technique, procedural setup, specimen handling, patient monitoring, and documentation.
• Participates in research and innovation studies and incorporates new technology and techniques when acquiring images.
• Responsible for workflow efficiency, equipment maintenance, QA, and accreditation maintenance.
• Fosters teamwork, professionalism and mutual respect.
• Mentors students and staff; serves as a resource for residents, fellows and other healthcare personnel.
• Participates in teams, projects, education, process improvements, or research; supports location and shift flexibility.

Education

Graduate of an Accredited Sonography Program

ARDMS registered or registry eligible

Associate degree or above preferred

ARDMS registered in Abdomen, OB/GYN and RVT

ARDMS registered or registry eligible in abdomen, OB/GYN and RVT within 18 months

BLS within 90 days of start date
