Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Sonographer to perform advanced diagnostic ultrasound imaging in outpatient and inpatient settings, including abdominal, vascular, and OB/GYN exams. You will assist in complex procedures, communicate preliminary findings to physicians, and tailor exams to patient history and symptoms.

Responsibilities include ensuring imaging accuracy, adhering to sterile technique, participating in QA and research, and mentoring staff while supporting a multi-location team across

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited Sonography Program and /or ARDMS registered or registry eligible.
• One year of experience as a Sonographer preferred.
• Associate degree or above preferred
• ARDMS registered or registry eligible in the areas of abdomen, obstetrics/gynecology (OB/GYN) and vascular technology (RVT).
• ARDMS registered in Abdomen, Obgyn, and RVT within 18 months of Mayo employment.
• Each certification should be achieved every 6 months.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Autonomously performs high quality, advanced diagnostic ultrasound imaging for outpatient and inpatient settings, including abdominal, vascular, small parts, and OB/GYN exams.
• Assists in complex invasive procedures and intraoperative cases with a team approach.
• Interpretation-ready images and preliminary diagnosis communicated to the physician.
• Identify imaging orders for accuracy and tailor exams to patient needs.
• Maintain sterile technique, procedural setup, and documentation.
• Participate in research and adopt new imaging technology.
• Ensure workflow efficiency, QA, and department accreditation maintenance.
• Foster teamwork, professionalism, and mutual respect.
• Mentor and teach students and staff; support residents and fellows.
• Staff across locations and shifts, including on-call and holiday coverage.
