Job summary

Ochsner Health System in Jennings, LA seeks an experienced ultrasound technologist to perform advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures in collaboration with staff radiologists. The role includes mentorship of junior staff and students, patient education, and adherence to safety protocols.

Requirements include completion of a CAHEA approved diagnostic sonography program, RDMS or registry eligibility within 1 year of hire, and BLS certification. Flexibility to cover a 24/7 schedule is preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of a CAHEA approved formal training program in diagnostic medical sonography.
• RDMS certification or registry eligible within 1 year of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
• Preferred: 2 years of sonographer experience.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures in collaboration with staff radiologists.
• Mentor junior staff and students.
• Verify physician orders and use radiology information systems to facilitate care.
• Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding.
• Operate ultrasound equipment to complete imaging procedures per protocol and assist radiologists in guided procedures.
