Job summary

Qualifications

• Proficiency with computers, software and web-based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication to varying patient-care stakeholders.
• Knowledge of liver, gallbladder, aorta, spleen, kidneys and pancreas anatomy; ability to perform abdominal ultrasound and provide preliminary radiologist interpretation.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including 24/7, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Verifies physician order and procedure for accuracy.
• Uses radiology information systems to facilitate care.
• Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
• Operates ultrasound equipment independently per protocol and assists radiologists in guided procedures.
• Reviews patient images to ensure diagnostic quality.
• Performs timely quality control procedures per regulatory standards; notifies/remediates as needed.
• Supports departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance).
• Adapts communication and approach to diverse patient populations; respects privacy and obtaining permissions.
