Job summary

PMD is launching a brand-new Service Department in Victor, NY, and we’re looking for hands‑on Field Service Technicians to grow with us.

You’ll support both in‑house system builds and customer service activities, install, debug, and maintain custom automation systems while gaining real‑world experience across industries. This role offers a path toward becoming a Field Service Engineer, with travel and competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, maintenance, machine tools, automation, service, or related technical fields
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Comfortable using basic tools and diagnostic equipment
• Willingness to learn controls, robotics, and related automation systems technologies
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Comfortable interacting with customers onsite and remotely as needed
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal
• Willingness to travel (~10% - 30%)

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, startup, and service support at customer sites
• Support machine assembly, debug, and checkout activities in the shop
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems
• Assist with PLC, HMI, robotics, motion, and vision systems
• Support FAT and SAT activities
• Learn and develop hands‑on experience with advanced automation technologies
