Job summary

The Charleston County Public Library is seeking a Library Specialist to assist with reference questions, collection maintenance, and in-branch and outreach programming. You will work with patrons, help locate resources, provide technology assistance, and support community hub services; a strong customer service mindset and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons with locating resources and computer usage.
• Assist with reference questions, collection maintenance and planning and implementing in-branch and outreach programs.
• Create booklists and book displays and provide technology assistance and demonstrations.
• Must be comfortable proactively seeking out customers to help in all areas of the library.
• Perform routine desk duties under professional supervision and help patrons locate and check out materials.
• Assist with Community Hub Services such as rental assistance, vaccine clinics, voting process, and other CCPL programs.
• Responsible for assisting the public in using technology, including software, online tools, and mobile devices.
