Job summary

Charleston County Public Library is seeking a Library Assistant to assist patrons with locating resources, check out materials, and support desk operations in a welcoming community library setting. You will shelve materials, help patrons with technology, and provide excellent customer service while embracing a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED equivalent.
• Associates degree or higher.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods.
• Excellent customer service, communication, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons with locating resources and checking out materials.
• Update patron records, place holds on materials and issue library cards.
• Shelve books and other library materials.
• Proactively assist customers at all library areas (desk, roving, email, phone).
• Perform routine desk duties under supervision and help locate materials.
• Assist the public with technology use, including software and online tools.
