Job summary

The City of Abilene (North Branch) is seeking a Librarian I – Adult Services to plan and deliver adult programming and reader’s advisory services. You will interact with patrons in person and remotely, provide technology help, and coordinate outreach for community programs.

Responsibilities include presenting to groups, partnering with other city departments, and maintaining performance reports. A MLS/MLIS degree is required and a Texas driver’s license is necessary.

Qualifications

• MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program is required.
• One year of public library work experience preferred.
• Valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist library patrons in person, via phone, or electronically with information needs.
• Plan, conduct and evaluate library programs for adults, including events and group tours.
• Plan, coordinate, and conduct presentations to internal and external groups on library topics.
• Collaborate with City departments, branches, and community agencies.
• Assist in collection maintenance tasks with Technical Services staff.
• Prepare and maintain reports, records, and statistics; submit monthly activity reports.
