Job summary

The Virginia Department of Social Services seeks a professional to support Adult Services/Adult Protective Services by responding to intake calls, interviewing clients in person or by phone, and linking walk-ins to CPS intake.

Responsibilities include entering data into PeerPlace, assessing risk, identifying resources, maintaining case records, and providing referrals; occasional emergency shelter duties may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with post-secondary coursework in social services.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Relevant work experience in public administrative support is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Respond to AS/APS Intake calls and walk-ins.
• Enter and maintain case information in PeerPlace.
• Assess risk and determine immediate safety needs.
• Maintain effective relationships with clients and professionals.
• Provide referrals to housing, medical, social, and financial resources.
• Assist in community emergency shelter duties during disasters.
