Job summary

Lincolnwood Public Library District is seeking an approachable and organized professional for the Adult Services team. The role involves frontline desk service, reading recommendations, room bookings, and helping patrons with technology.

Additional duties include collecting statistics on database usage, updating resource guides, and following procedures for missing or lost books. 18 hours per week with a negotiable schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with three years of library experience OR Associate’s degree with one year of library experience OR Bachelor’s degree.
• One year experience working with adults in an educational or public library setting preferred.
• Advanced technology skills and excellent communication skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide reference and reader’s advisory services to patrons at the Adult Services desk, including phone calls and email correspondence
• Assist patrons with use of the department’s technology, digital resources, and Library of Things equipment
• Maintain evolving knowledge of the library’s comprehensive services, programming, collections, and resources
• Foster a welcoming environment for all patrons and, when necessary, enforce policies and expectations regarding patron behavior
