South Washington County Schools is seeking an Adult Enrichment Instructor to design and teach engaging classes for adults. Classes cover arts, crafts, finance, fitness, cooking, games, and wellness, with emphasis on practical, enjoyable learning for diverse learners.

Instructors work on site at the District Program Center, with hours varying by catalog needs. Starting wage is $25.00/hour, based on district wage sheets.

POSITION SUMMARY

Seeking skilled individuals to teach Adult Enrichment classes and share their expertise and passion with our community. Design courses for adults seeking fun and fulfillment through personal growth, practical knowledge, and skill development. Areas of interest include:

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS

• Instructors design and teach approved original courses, completing all necessary forms and submitting accurate course descriptions, bios, and promote materials by catalog deadlines.
• Work with SoWashCo staff to confirm classroom space, technology requirements, and special setup needs prior to the class start date.
• Deliver accessible, high‑engagement instruction designed for beginners while seamlessly adapting to accommodate varying skill levels and learning preferences.
• Monitor participant engagement, maintain a safe and positive learning space, and adhere to district policies, facility rules, and emergency protocols.
• Prepare and share all materials with participants, track and enter attendance in the Arux app, and promptly communicate any unexpected absences or rescheduling needs to staff and students.
• Submit invoices and payroll vouchers on specified deadlines.
• Leverage participant survey feedback to continuously refine course content and enhance the learning experience.

Required:

• Possess the ability to share knowledge clearly and inspiringly; demonstrate skill and teaching experience through provided examples, references, or products.
• Arrive early for setup and reliably deliver approved class content as agreed upon.
• Positive Communication: Maintain clear, welcoming, and timely digital, written, and verbal communication with participants and SoWashCo staffescalating any pre-class issues directly to staff rather than public forums.
• Demonstrate an appreciation for diversity and maintain a welcoming environment in all interactions.
• Successfully pass a required background check.

Desired Qualifications

• Prior experience teaching adult learners across diverse backgrounds, generations, and learning styles, including English language learners and individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Possess an understanding of how adults learn new skills.

• Communicate with participants and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances positive outcomes. If any negative situation occurs prior to class, please bring that issue to the Community Education staff rather than share in class with the public.
• Demonstrate an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.
• Display good verbal, digital and written communication skills.
• Communicate in a timely manner with the Adult Enrichment Coordinator if questions or requests for information arise.

• Experience working with students of varied capabilities and learning styles. This might include people who have English as their second language, people with developmental disabilities, people varying in age across generations, etc.
