Job summary

Amazon in Seattle, WA is seeking a Software Development Manager for Ads Marketing ME&I Engineering to lead the design, development, and maintenance of highly scalable distributed services that power Ads communications across advertiser campaigns and experiences.

You will partner with PMs, TPMs, Scientists and Engineers to set the technical direction, mentor and grow the team, and drive initiatives spanning front-end, back-end, big data, and agentic AI spaces, delivering impact at a global scale.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• 7+ years working directly within engineering teams
• 3+ years designing or architecting distributed systems
• 8+ years leading the development of multi-tier web services
• Knowledge of SDLC practices, code reviews, source control, builds, testing, and live-site operations
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of 13+ software engineers building the communication platform that powers Ads at scale
• Partner with Product, Science and Marketing teams to define and execute the technical roadmap
• Drive technical strategy, architecture decisions, and long-term vision for 40+ services across front-end, back-end, big data and AI
• Establish engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality metrics while fostering operational excellence and builder empowerment
