Job summary

Care Initiatives in Iowa is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON - RN) to provide compassionate leadership across our skilled nursing communities. You will support the DON, oversee nursing operations, and help guide a team dedicated to resident-centered care.

You’ll supervise care delivery, enforce regulatory compliance, mentor RNs, participate in on-call leadership, and collaborate with families to address needs.

Qualifications

• Valid RN license in good standing (Iowa).
• Current CPR certification.
• Knowledge of federal and state long-term care regulations.
• Strong empathy, respect, and discretion in care.

Responsibilities

• Assist the DON in planning, organizing, and directing the nursing department.
• Conduct rounds to monitor care delivery and propose improvements.
• Enforce policies and guide team development.
• Coach RNs to promote teamwork and high-quality care.
• Manage administrative functions to improve department efficiency.
• Communicate care needs with residents and families.
• Document care to meet clinical, regulatory, and facility standards.
• Follow infection control, safety, and compliance protocols.
• Participate in on-call rotation with leadership team.
