Job summary

Waukegan Health and Rehab is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to help plan, organize, and direct the nursing department under the guidance of Nursing leadership. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local standards while maintaining high-quality care for Guests.

The ADON will lead the nursing team, participate in admissions and discharge planning, oversee care plans and assessments, and drive performance improvement through data analysis and collaboration with the

Qualifications

• Active IL license as LPN or RN.
• Previous nurse supervisor experience.

Responsibilities

• Assists in development and implementation of the Nursing Program.
• Meets and consults with the facility’s interdisciplinary team to develop restorative care standards.
• Ensures the nursing program complies with laws, regulations, and standards.
• Participates in admission process and explains the restorative program to Guests.
• Participates in discharge planning and care plan assessments.
• Performs administrative tasks such as charting and reports.
• Assists with recruitment and selection of nursing staff.
• Provides supervision to CNAs and subordinate staff; reviews work.
• Completes annual performance reviews of staff.
• Provides guidance and education to staff regarding performance.
• Handles disciplinary actions as needed.
• Involves in disciplinary process of subordinates.
• Performs on-floor nursing care as needed.
• Practices within licensure scope of nursing.
• Ensures care plans are followed and Guest status is assessed.
• Rounds with physicians when needed.
• Supports care planning with observation and data.
• Maintains infection control and safety precautions.
• Maintains Guest comfort, privacy and dignity.
• Responds to call lights promptly.
• Attends departmental meetings and in-services.
• Supports performance improvement projects through data analysis.
• Identifies opportunities for improvement via data and observations.
